Day 8 - Dedication

Today, in the little town of Rossport on the Lake Superior North Shore our crew chief, Scott Doran provided us with the day’s dedication. He shared with us that when he did the National Ride 2010 he didn’t have a direct connection to childhood cancer, he admitted that his motivation was all about the bike and riding. During his visit to BC CHildren’s Hospital he noticed a woman sitting on a bench off to the side with her hands clasped between her knees. Scott observed her from a distance, she did not move for over 1/2 hour. He went over and sat beside her, mirroring her position.A few minutes passed, he then said ” you probably don’t know what this is about’. The woman turned to Scott and said “yes I do, I have attended the last 2 National Ride events with my son Quinn, he recently passed away. Scott had be given his direct connection to childhood cancer. He decided to ride in honour of Quinn.

Today we ride for Quinn and the far too many untold stories across Canada. Children fighting to live life, parents desparately searching, seeking, praying and drying for help. Scientists digging deep to research and identify genes and thrapise to extend and save lives. Doctors developing and delivering therapise and protocols. Nurses on the front lines administering medication, providing hope and love to children in the midst of pain and exhaustion.
